An interesting rumor suggests that a new four core iPhone will be released alongside the iPhone 3.0 firmware, according to ZDnet.

One of the most interesting rumors I’ve been tracking here at Macworld Expo in San Francisco surrounds the mysterious four-core iPhone. While the current iPhone has (roughly) the processing power of the Sony PSP, an upgraded four core iPhone would slaughter pretty much every portable gaming platform on the market. The other part of the story is firmware 3.0, which is said to be required on the iPhone “quad.”
A member of the DevTeam, planetbeing, has successfully managed to port Linux over to the iPhone and iPod Touch. See the official announcement and download information here. Right now iPhone Linux is still in development stages and is missing a lot of features like wireless, touchscreen, sound, accelerometer, and baseband support, so it's not ready for novice users yet.

 DEV TEAMS PROBLEMS

as of 1/3/09

"Seems like “Jody Sanders” of the West Midlands, UK (who we mentioned in our release post) is at it again and is stealing our work and passing it off as his own, he has done this before and this scam was reported by the Guardianon this blog last year and was also covered in a very very long thread over at hackint0sh forums. and also by

We specifically restrict the commercial use of our software, and yellowsn0w is included in these restrictions. This dodgy geezer is selling our software to you at a bargain £19.99 he says:-

“We can now fully unlock the iPhone 3G for use on any GSM network for just £19.99 DIY (£49.99 in-store at either London or Birmingham) - just in time for the release of the iPhone 3G PAYG in the UK (available from Carphone Warehouse and o2).”

Jody’s “software” contains our code and also copyrighted code from elsewhere. All you need is free and outlined here . What he is doing just isn’t cool.

If you are in Birmingham or London then if you could find out any information about Jody Sanders at “iph*neunl*ckuk” we’d be very appreciative.

Also if there are any UK based lawyers or student lawyers that could help us with this, then please contact us at blog@iphone-dev.org of course student lawyers can’t give us specific legal advice, but even your informal opinion helps.

Seems like even though Jody claims he doesn’t offer our software, he is offering his “own software” (that is fact just QuickPwn with some edits, also forbidden) and also claims (in relation to yellowsn0w) -

“Please bear with us at the moment - the software is in beta stage and we are trying to get it working for all users.”

The patched QuickPwn isn’t the only warez they sell or offer, they also provide a hacked version of the Apple IOUSBFamily kernel extension.

Some interesting stuff has been uncovered about Jody, some which can’t be posted here, but his limited company “Phone Unlock Limited” is way behind on submitting the company accounts, if anyone would like details of his company it can be read here - 1, 2, 3 and 4

Seems like selling our work has paid off, his current apartment (not the one listed in the companies house records) is up for sale for £190,000 - looks like he is moving onto a bigger and better things. We also need information on his co-worker “Tim Hinton” also of the West Midlands.

There are also other companies who are operating the same scam, but Jody has been warned specifically, so he is first (two wrongs don’t make a right)." DEV TEAM REPORTED

Flash Coming to Iphones/ Ipod Touch

Do you want to install Flash Player software on your iPhone or iPod Touch? Well, right now we don't know when you will be able to do it, but we do know that Adobe is working on a Flash Player application for the iPhone. Adobe has officially confirmed that they are working on an Adobe Flash Player application. The follow quote confirms that Adobe is working on the iPhone Flash Player:

install flashplayer iphone, iphone flashplayer app, flash on iphone
“Upon a direct question from the audience, Paul Betlem for the first time publicly confirmed that Adobe is actively developing a Flash Player for Apple’s popular phone. He said (not direct quote) ‘My team is working on Flash on the iPhone, but it’s a closed platform.’ He noted that Apple makes all the decisions, so in other words, the ball is in Apple’s yard at this time. If Apple says yes, Adobe will have the player available in a very short time.”

Adobe's CEO already had Flash running on the iPhone emulator in June. Do not be too excited about flash because flash takes up a lot of memory and most mobile devices do not have enough speed to process all the flash on various websites. Even if there is flash for the Apple iPhone you should expect it to run slow and not have the full capabilites that the flash for your PC has. Having flash on your iPhone could also enable all those annoying ads on various websites which is not really a good thing, but thankfully you can edit your hosts file in your iPhone and block certain ad servers (which requires a little more work on your part but it's doable).

When will flash for the iPhone come out? Well Adobe claims that it could come out very soon, but it all depends on when Apple will officially allow Adobe to release this application. Knowing Apple, I am sure that they would reject the iPhone flash app and wait another month before approving it. Having flash on your iPhone would open up a lot of capabilities! The biggest reason why most iPhone users woould want flash is because they want to play flash iPhone games from websites like Miniclip.
